Accessibility
We want this site to work for everyone who needs it, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard, or a magnifier.
What we aim for
We build against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That is a standard, not a certificate, and we treat it as ongoing work rather than a box that gets ticked once.
What is in place today
- Every page can be operated by keyboard alone, and the element you are on always shows a visible focus outline.
- A "skip to main content" link is the first thing a keyboard user reaches, so the header does not have to be tabbed through on every page.
- Text and background colors are chosen to meet AA contrast. Where color carries meaning, such as our open and closed indicator, the same information is also written in words.
- Images that convey information have alternative text. Purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Headings follow a real outline, so screen reader users can navigate by structure.
- Pages reflow to narrow screens and remain usable when text is enlarged.
- Animation is minimal, and motion is reduced automatically if your device asks for that.
- Forms have visible labels tied to their fields, and errors are announced rather than shown only by color.
Where we know there are limits
Some parts of this site are provided by other companies, and we do not control their code. That includes our secure prescription transfer form, the RxLocal refill portal and app, the appointment booking site, and the embedded map. We chose vendors we believe take accessibility seriously, but we cannot guarantee their behavior the way we can guarantee our own pages.
If one of those tools blocks you, that is not a dead end. Call us at (972) 442-5333 and a person will do it with you over the phone. Anything you can do on this site, you can do by talking to us instead.
Tell us if something is wrong
If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to hear about it, and we will fix what we can. Please include the page you were on and what you were trying to do.
